\ud83e\udd62 Shaping Our Creations Together<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Japanese home cooking is a beautiful, mindful art. Kanatsu-san guided our global group through the comforting basics of crafting a traditional meal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is no better icebreaker than crafting food together. Between concentrating on our shapes, sharing laughs, and following Kanatsu-san\u2019s gentle guidance, the kitchen quickly filled with shared moments of joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \ud83c\uddf5\ud83c\uddf9\ud83c\uddef\ud83c\uddf5Where Japan Meets Portugal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Instead of a formal sit-down, the energy was fluid, casual, and social. As each dish was finished, we plated our handmade Japanese creations directly onto beautiful traditional Portuguese tiles by Alvaro Almeida<\/a>, a talented Portuguese ceramic artisan who hand paints contemporary, multifunctional tiles inspired by 19th century Lisbon facades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Seeing these culinary worlds collide was a beautiful moment. It was a literal, visual blend of cultures\u2014the comforting soul food of Japan meeting the historic craftsmanship of Lisbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We gathered around the counter, stood together, and ate the fruits of our labour while sipping traditional green tea. No barriers, no formalities\u2014just people from around the world sharing a deeply special, local Lisbon afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2764\ufe0fA Touch of Saudade: Leaving a Piece of Japan, Taking Portugal Home<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n This workshop carried a very special, emotional meaning for us. Kanatsu-san has been living here in Lisbon, but this upcoming September, she will be moving back to Japan for good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunday’s class brought a beautiful sense of saudade<\/em> to the kitchen\u2014a lasting memory to anchor her time in our city. By bringing her kitchen traditions to our neighbourhood, she has left a permanent piece of Japan right here in Lisbon. And as we plated her food on our traditional tiles, we hope she carries a little piece of Portugal with her on her next big journey back home.
